For estate planning & elder-law professionals

The stories behind the personal property.

Estate plans often address who will receive a client’s belongings. But they may leave little room for the personal stories behind them.

A ring might have modest financial value and enormous sentimental importance. Provenance & You helps clients document those stories while they have the opportunity to tell them.

The opportunity

What hasn’t been written down?

Personal belongings can carry meaning that isn’t apparent from their financial value.

Some clients have carefully considered what they intend to pass on. Others may not realize which everyday objects hold special memories for their children or grandchildren.

Through interviews, object photography, and optional family reflections, we help clients record the histories behind meaningful belongings. The result is a personal record that can be kept and shared according to the client’s wishes.

The Family Record

A personal-history service that complements your work.

Clients may choose to share relevant information with their attorney. The work is designed to complement an estate-planning conversation, not replace it.

The record may include
  • Conversations about the client’s meaningful belongings
  • Photographs and short histories of selected objects
  • An optional invitation for relatives to share memories or questions
  • A private summary for the client, where appropriate
  • A finished keepsake book with selected stories and photographs

Professional boundaries

Clear roles. Personal attention.

Provenance & You is an independent personal-history studio.

We do not provide legal or financial advice, prepare estate documents, value belongings, determine legal capacity, or mediate family disputes. We do not advise clients on who should receive particular objects.

Any legal decisions remain between the client and their attorney. Our role is to listen, document, and preserve personal histories with care.
